Technikon is the operator of the Casting Emission Reduction Program. Technikon is an engineering firm that specializes in technical development in the metal casting, environmental, and energy arenas. Technikon manages various government programs involving metal castings. The Technikon website is www.technikonllc.com.

The RETC is a newly funded project under the CERP contract.  The RETC will create a facility for testing and validation of renewable energy technologies related to biomass feedstocks and organic waste, with a particular focus on conversions into biofuels for transportation.

The RETC will provide government and industry with an independent testing site for evaluating the performance of renewable energy and renewable fuels technologies with respect to robustness, safety, energy efficiency, environmental effectiveness and other key performance specifications.

CERP Agenda Suspended as Funding Ends

The Casting Emission Reduction Program has been put on hold, indefinitely. Explaining that "no further funds have become available for air emissions testing under CERP," Technikon L.L.C. has announced that no further meetings of the Program are planned until further notice.

"The members of USCAR (Chrysler, Ford, GM) have greatly valued our long collaboration with the Department of Defense and the foundry industry aimed at reducing casting emissions," stated USCAR executive director Don Walkowicz. "Working together through CERP, our scientists and engineers developed state-of-the-art measurement technologies, materials, and emissions data that helped to significantly reduce the environmental impact of U.S. foundry operations. We are quite proud of this achievement, which provides an excellent example of the power of collaboration."

"Thank you for your time and effort in support of this important project," Technikon stated in a statement to interested parties. "We accumulated a large amount of information in support of the foundry industry and its suppliers."

Technikon is committed to maintaining the CERP website for future reference and use by metal casting facilities worldwide and to assisting all operators or suppliers in continually reducing environmental impact of the foundry industry.
